March 2025

Dear Parent and Carer,

Spring has finally arrived and we have all been enjoying breaktimes and PE lessons in the sunshine. It was fantastic to see so many of you at parents evening and we look forward to seeing you at more events this year. Keep an eye on the school calendar (link below to website) for dates.

Puffins, Ducks and Swans classes have treated us all to amazing assemblies this term. The children performed extremely well and spoke confidently. It was fantastic to hear from staff and pupils the learning they took from the assemblies.

We are saddened to announce that Mrs Paros will be leaving us at Easter. I know you will join me in thanking her for her support and hard work at Jupiter over the years. We wish Mrs Paros all the best in her future endeavours.

As this is our 10th anniversary year we are planning some celebrations to enjoy and celebrate with pupils, staff and our community. Later this month we will be holding a dance-a-thon, which will be a day of dancing. We will also be fundraising to fund more events and trips and resources for our school.

In the summer term we will be holding a skip-a-thon, not only a great skill to harness and improve our fitness, it will also be an opportunity to sponsor your child/ren and staff in school to reach 10000 skips in a day!

In July we will celebrating our 10 years with a 'colour run' event. More details of these events and others being planned will follow in the Summer term.

I’m pleased to announce that Jupiter has been set up with the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), providing a fantastic opportunity to raise funds to support our school.

CAF is a trusted charitable giving platform that allows parents, carers, and the wider community to make donations easily and securely. As a registered charity, donations through CAF qualify for Gift Aid, meaning the school can receive an additional 25p for every £1 donated at no extra cost to the donor.

Supporting your child with reading

At Jupiter, we produce confident and lifelong readers who value books and enjoy reading. We use a range of reading material to teach reading, including Read Write Inc and Oxford Reading Tree reading books. These are split into levels that the children work through until they become free readers and move onto books in our library. Early reading books are split into sub-levels that closely link to the phonic level of each individual child to enable then to practise and use their phonic knowledge.

When listening to your child read at home each evening, it is important to focus on their comprehension skills as much as their decoding of the text. The reading prompt sheet offers guidance on questions to ask your children when listening to them read.

Attendance and Leave of Absence Policy

A summary of the school’s Attendance and Leave of Absence Policy is available on the school website - Attendance and Absence Policy 2024

As you are aware the government changed penalty notices and fines which came into effect from 1st September. Please read the poster and policy for further details.

If you are intending to ask for leave of absence during term time for your child then please read this policy first.

Attendance in school is really important. Being in school is important to your child's academic achievement, well being, and wider development.

Getting to school late can also mean your child misses out on important learning which could affect their achievement or they could miss social time with friends and the time to settle into class which can impact on their well being.

Class blogs - please read these each week to find out about the learning which is taking place in your child's class and for any upcoming learning/ events.
