January 2024
Dear Parents and Carers,
Happy New Year to you all and welcome back to the start of a new term. I hope you all had a chance to recharge your batteries, ready for the busy, but exciting term ahead.
Today we have reminded all children of our values and expectations at Jupiter. Later this week I will share with you the behaviour expectations so you can discuss these at home with your child.
The weather is turning remarkably colder over the next few weeks. Please make sure your child comes to school with a suitable warm coat and extra outdoor clothing such as hats ad gloves. Please make sure these are named.
In the next few weeks we will be transferring to a new uniform provider, PL Schoolwear, based in Hemel Hempstead. Please look out for an email with the relevant details.

School Uniform Policy
The vast majority of children take great care with their appearance when coming to school. However, there are a few areas of concern for a small number of children so here are some reminders regarding school uniform:
A school tie should be worn each day (year 3 upwards).
Shirts should be tucked in.
Black skirt, pinafore dress, or trousers
White or black socks or tights
Long hair should be tied back with a band in the school colours.
Black shoes, trainers or ankle boots
PE KIT
Children must bring in their full PE kit on their allocated day/s. PLEASE NOTE – Earrings must NOT be worn on PE days.
The required PE kit should be worn – black shorts, white t-shirt or in house colour (Red, blue, green or yellow), Black plimsolls or trainers.
At this time of year, a plain black tracksuit can be worn for outdoor activities.
Thank you for your co-operation with regard to uniform and for sending your children into school so well turned out. This is so important as it makes the children feel they are a valued member of our school.
School stationery and items not permitted
At Jupiter we provide all the stationery and equipment your child needs during the school day. Please can I ask that you remind your child/ren to not bring in personal items into school. This is to ensure that personal belongings are not lost or damaged and to help ensure children are focused in school.
Stationery
School will provide all stationery needed for learning. Children MUST not bring in any pencil cases or stationary
Toys/cards
No toys (including fidgets), cards, items/personal belongings from home are to be brought into school (unless agreed with the SENCO or senior leadership team).
Smart watches or watches that take photographs
Children will be asked to remove smart watches or watches with cameras and these will be returned to the parent/carer at the end of the school day.
Mindfulness Bulletin
According to the Chinese New Year, 2024 is the year of the dragon. This symbolises strength and good luck. But how can we manifest these qualities within our own lives?
If we choose to be mindful about our family, our lives and ourselves then this helps us to feel more in control. Mindfulness gives us a space in our day to just pause for a moment and breathe. Try these two short exercises each day in order to help anchor ourselves - especially when things around us seem overwhelming.
1. Physically pause. Become aware of the weight in the lower half of your body. Feel yourself breathing down into this weighted base.
2. Mentally pause. Notice the five senses In This Moment. This will help to quieten down the chatter in your mind.
Enjoy the spring term – a term of change and growth!
