As we head into the last part of the school year we are planning the transition events for all pupils. We will be following the very successful similar format to last year as this is unique to Jupiter and offers 5 afternoons of time with their new class teacher and support staff in preparation and support in transitioning to next year. I will send out separate letters next term to give further details.
Wishing everyone an enjoyable half term break and we will see you on Monday 3 June.

MODESHIFT STARS
We are delighted to announce that we have achieved our Good level Modeshift STARS accreditation. Huge thank you to Mrs Waters who created our travel plan and booked so many road safety activities and initiatives for our pupils to take part in.
REMINDER - ROAD AND PARKING SAFETY
Please ensure that you do not park over the crossing outside of school or residents driveways.
Parking unsafely is dangerous to pedestrians.
ONLINE SAFETY
At Jupiter we are constantly being made aware of instances where children within our community are accessing online platforms and social media networks below the minimum age requirements set by these platforms. This is a matter of concern for several reasons:
Legal Compliance: Many online platforms have age restrictions in place to comply with laws such as the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). By allowing underage access, we may inadvertently be violating these laws.
Safety and Privacy: Younger children may not fully understand the potential risks associated with online interactions, including exposure to inappropriate content, cyberbullying, and online predators.
Developmental Impact: Excessive screen time and engagement with social media at a young age can have negative impacts on children's mental health, social development, and overall well-being.
Every online platform has its own terms of service and age restrictions designed to protect minors and ensure their safety.
As responsible guardians, it's essential for us to understand these legal requirements and help our children navigate the digital world safely and responsibly. Below are some common online platforms and their minimum age requirements:
Facebook: The minimum age requirement to create an account on Facebook is 13 years old.
Instagram: Similar to Facebook, Instagram requires users to be at least 13 years old to create an account.
Twitter: Twitter's minimum age requirement is 13 years old.
Snapchat: Users must be at least 13 years old to use Snapchat. However, certain features may have higher age requirements.
TikTok: The minimum age requirement for TikTok is 13 years old. Additionally, TikTok offers a separate app for younger users called "TikTok for Younger Users," which is designed for children under 13.
YouTube: While YouTube does not have a specific age requirement, users must be old enough to comply with COPPA regulations. However, YouTube Kids is a separate app designed for children under 13.
WhatsApp: The minimum age requirement for WhatsApp is 16 years old in most European countries, while it is 13 years old in other regions.
It's important to note that these age requirements are set by the platforms themselves and may vary depending on the user's location and applicable laws. As parents, we play a crucial role in ensuring that our children use online platforms responsibly and safely.
We encourage you to have open and honest conversations with your child/ren about the importance of adhering to age restrictions on online platforms. Additionally, consider implementing parental controls and monitoring tools to help regulate your child's online activities and protect them from potential risks.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and let's continue to prioritise the well-being and safety of our children in both the physical and digital worlds.
