End of term - March 2023
Dear Parents and Carers,
What a busy Spring term it has been! The children really enjoyed dressing in red for Red Nose Day and raised £274.16. Thank you for your generosity.
The Great Big Clean was a huge success and children were so proud of the litter picking they did. We also had many comments of thanks from the community. A big thank you to Miss Gillingham for organising.
We are always looking at ways we can encourage reading at Jupiter. We are pleased to launch our brand new virtual library. This has already been shared with all children, so please have a look and share at home as well. A link is also on the school website. Here is the link for you to begin accessing immediately. A massive thank you to Mrs Plater for creating this virtual space and Miss Soloman for her support. Enjoy reading!

With National preparations underway for King Charles III coronation, we will be celebrating with the pupils at Jupiter by taking part in The Marlows time capsule event and also holding a celebratory picnic and fete, alongside many other school events linked to classroom learning.
As you are aware the method of communication has changed and I would like to thank you for your patience and positive feedback during this process. Please remember that if you would like to speak directly, either in person or over the phone, with myself or your child's class teacher on a matter that is confidential then just email through the enquiries email that you would like a conversation with the headteacher or class teacher. You do not need to disclose any content if you do not want to.
Have a wonderful Easter break and I look forward to seeing your child/ren back on Tuesday 18th April.

Jupiter's Value focus for April is Responsibility
Responsibility is a really important value and at Jupiter we want to help our children to grow and develop this important life skill.
Some examples of behaviours that demonstrate this value are:
Making good decisions in our own behaviour
Taking responsibility for our learning
Asking when we need help
Being independent
Ensuring we bring the necessary belongings to school e.g. book bags, reading diaries, homework
Taking care to work hard
Being proactive – not stepping over litter, coats, etc.
Caring for others
Taking responsibility for our own health – physical, mental and emotional wellbeing
Caring for pets / family
Volunteering to do things in school, the community, etc.
Please could you discuss Responsibility with your children at home, and explore ways to reinforce it.
Jupiter Non-negotiables linked to Responsibility:
Responsibility: I will look after my learning environments and equipment.
I can choose resources that will help me with my learning.
I am in charge of my body, my words and my actions.
Mental health and family support coffee morning.
I am pleased to announce that we have organised both our Mindfulness coach and Dacorum Family Support team to meet you at Jupiter. They are holding an informal coffee morning on Thursday 20th April from 8.30am. Please come and join them to find out about the work they do, ask questions, seek advice and how they are working with children and families at Jupiter.
You could just pop in for a cuppa - I will be there as well and would be great to see you.
They are both a great service and here to listen and offer advice and help to support you as parents/carers.
Herts Catering Taster session
We have also arranged for you as parents to come in and sample the great menu your child/ren could experience for their lunch at Jupiter. Please do come along from 2pm on Thursday 20th April and have a taste!
Social Media, television programmes and gaming
It has brought to our attention by pupils that some children at Jupiter are accessing games and programmes that are not appropriate for their age. The two recent concerns are pupils playing Grand Theft Auto and watching Wednesday.
Netflix's Wednesday series is rated aged 14+ due to its content of fear, language, and violence and some content is considered as inappropriate for younger viewers.
Grand Theft Auto is an adult action game rated 18+ due to its gang violence, nudity, extremely coarse language, and drug and alcohol abuse.
Please continue to monitor what your child/ren watch at home and use parental settings.
If you need any advice please come and talk to us and we will see how we can help.
